May's Professional Development Meeting:
Blockchain in the Supply Chain
An update of the presentation made at the APICS
In managing complex, multinational supply chains a top line priority for the
Supply Chain sector is the ability to have a stable, secure, streamlined, and
relatively inexpensive means to provide multiple parties the ability to view
shared-in-common transfers, transactions, and (complex) processes. Blockchain
offers an elegant, streamlined solution: a single transaction flow, with
different players (e.g., suppliers, manufacturers, logistics providers, retailers,
and even, where desirable, consumers) given permission to view different aspects of the
transaction, through a shared ledger. Will you need to be conversant with Blockchain
technology in the future? Could your company benefit from an approach
that leveraged Blockchain technology right now?
for this timely, coherent, informative, and straightforward examination of what Blockchain
is, what Blockchain does, to understand if Blockchain makes sense for your business, and
to gain insight into the specifics
as to how Blockchain can support your Supply Chain Management processes.
Quentin Samelson's focus, as a senior supply chain
consultant in the Electronics Center of Competence of IBM’s Global Business
Services, specializing in Supply Chain Management, Inventory Management and
Procurement technologies, extends beyond Blockchain
into a range of technology solutions, such as the crossroads of hyper-complex production and cognitive computing,
that will be essential to activating the next generation of production success. Mr. Samelson has over
twenty-five years of domestic and international operations experience. Mr. Samelson has led numerous Supply Chain
process and technology improvement initiatives (including requirements gathering and analysis, solution development,
and implementation of large-scale supply chain automation, order automation, ERP, SRM and
Business Process Management solutions) to improve operational performance and achieve
significant cost savings for large multinational organizations.
