Commerce, Economic Opportunity and Trade - Illinois Specific Supply Chain Related Business Opportunities and Programs

If your company is outside of Illinois and looking to relocate, or if your company is already located in Illinois, and does business outside the U.S., or if you or your company are looking to get involved in or become more involved in the global Supply Chain, then on Wednesday, November 18th you should spend your lunch hour with us.

Did you know that Illinois has 8 Foreign Trade Zones? Or that Illinois is the only state with all 7 Class 1 freight railroads? Did you know that the Chicago region has North America’s largest inland port? What do these facts mean to Supply Chain Professionals and their companies? Join us on November 18 when our presenter, Margo Markopoulos, Director of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Office of Trade and Investment will discuss the specific programs, resources, and opportunities that small, medium, and large businesses can access through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Office of Trade and Investment.

Margo Markopoulos, who has been the Director of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (IDCEO), Office of Trade and Investment (OTI) since 2015, brings over 20 years of international experience to the role, leading the Department’s strategies to increase Illinois’ exports and attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to the State. As the IDCEO Director, Ms. Markopoulos manages Illinois’ regional foreign offices in six countries, and the Illinois State Trade and Export Promotion (ISTEP) program, which annually assists hundreds of companies to expand globally through exports. Prior to becoming OTI’s Director, Ms. Markopoulos was the Department of Commerce’s Export Program Director, and prior to coming to the Department of Commerce, Ms. Markopoulos was employed in the Governor’s Office of Consular Affairs, where she worked closely with the Chicago Diplomatic Corps and planned gubernatorial trade missions for several Illinois Governors.
