Many, if not all of us in Supply Chain discuss environmental issues. Some of us have environmental issues thrust upon us due to the nature of the business/business function that we support. Others of us have an abiding concern for the environment, and look for ways to be better, more engaged, stewards. If your interest in Sustainability extends beyond the occasional fleeting afterthought, we invite you to Join Us on April 18th when APICS-Chicago will join ISM Chicago for our April Professional Development Meeting (PDM) - The Midwest Regional Sustainability Awards, where you will get to hear what other Chicago area companies are doing to incorporate Sustainability in their facilities, their management policies, and their operations.

To provide attendees with important context, as part of the Midwest Regional Sustainability Awards event the award winning companies will be making presentations that detail the actions they took that led to the Award, as well as discussing future plans for additional Sustainability initiatives. This PDM will include dinner. Additionally, there will be a 20 minute tour of the 603 N. Sacramento Blvd Barrel House facility.

The Barrel House Facility Tour will be your opportunity to learn about barrel aging for premium beers. Pioneering the first barrel-aging process yielded Goose Island Brewery the ever-tasty Bourbon County Stout back in 2004. Three years later, Goose Island Brewery decided to expand their barrel-aging program. Aging went on for 9-18 months, creating beer with unprecedented depth of character, increased acidity and a light essence of fruit without too much sweetness. The variety of wine barrels Goose Island uses yield some of their most unique brews.  The schedule is to have tours start at 6:00P. Therefore, please come early to be certain to have time to go on a tour.

**Parking - The Barrel House does NOT have a self-parking lot, but does offer Free Valet Parking
In keeping with the Sustainability spirit of this event, while public transportation is not a good option for this location.
-- Attendees are strongly encouraged to carpool or rideshare with other attendees using Uber or Lyft

Central to the Midwest Regional Sustainability Awards, APICS-Chicago looks to promote the sharing of innovative best practices in conserving and recycling resources, reducing carbon emissions, enacting climate change programs, and advocating efficient energy use, through having regional member and affiliated companies that are committed to sustainable principles participate in the Awards process.

Companies engaged in sustainable initiatives including, but not limited to: reducing energy consumption; using green materials; reducing landfill waste; reducing raw material usage; increasing the use of recycled product; allowing for re-use or re-purposing of materials; and improving product or processes as a result of incorporating sustainable methods, are strongly encouraged to fill-out an application form to participate in the Midwest Regional Sustainability Awards.
